Tickets on Sale Now for The Great Coffee Cocktail Competition

The Fountain on Delmar, the new art deco cocktail cafe and coffee shop located in the Delmar Maker District has partnered with Kaldi’s Coffee Roasting Company and Minnesota spirit importer Haus Alpenz to host The Great Coffee Cocktail Showdown this October.

The Showdown will pit eight of St. Louis’ top mixologists against one another as they compete to showcase their cocktails. The competition is designed to showcase the versatility of coffee in cocktails.

The challenge will feature two rounds - a judged round and popular vote. In the first, contestants will sample their cocktails for guests in the Delmar Maker District courtyard, sharing their story and the inspiration behind the cocktail. Attendees will vote on their favorite cocktail, awarding “The Popular Vote.” In the second round, each bartender will have ten minutes to set up, build and present their cocktail in front of judges inside the main bar of The Fountain on Delmar. The three finalists will each take home a cash prize. The popular vote winner will take home a gift card to The Fountain on Locust and The Fountain on Delmar.

“We are looking to highlight the beautiful versatility of coffee in a cocktail,” said Frank McGinty, Vice President of Marketing for Kaldi’s Coffee Company.

The bartenders will be chosen for their creativity, their skill and their vision. Their drinks will highlight one to two spirits from a selection by Haus Alpenz and either Kaldi’s Espresso 700 or their cold brew concentrate. The drinks may feature up to 7 single ingredients - and should be practically buildable in a restaurant environment - as the first place winner’s drink will be added to The Fountain’s seasonal cocktail menu.

Bartenders interested in submitting for the competition can click here for entry information.

Tickets are on sale now for $35. Attendees will be able to enjoy samples of all cocktails being presented and will go home with a copy of all drink recipes.

“Whether you’re a novice home bartender or a professional mixologist, this will be an incredible opportunity to build your cocktail recipe book,” said The Fountain’s owner Danni Eickenhorst. “This is an opportunity to taste some incredible work by some of St. Louis’s most talented bartenders, and to learn from them as well.”
